On behalf of our client, a leading company in the colors manufacturing sector, we are seeking an experienced Chemist or Chemical Engineer with a strong background in organic or polymer chemistry and proven expertise in polyurethane systems. The role requires both technical depth and leadership ability to manage R&D and Quality Control activities, ensuring innovation, product consistency, and process excellence.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate laboratory operations related to polyurethane adhesives, resins, and roof coatings.
  • Design and develop new formulations through systematic experimentation and structure–property optimization (polyaddition mechanisms, NCO/OH ratio control, curing kinetics).
  • Oversee analytical characterization of products, evaluating physicochemical and mechanical properties (viscosity, solids, adhesion, peel strength, curing profile, thermal stability).
  • Drive scale-up processes and ensure successful transition from laboratory to pilot and industrial production.
  • Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement in collaboration with Production and Technical Service teams.
  • Establish QC standards, SOPs, and product specifications aligned with ISO and internal quality systems.
  • Mentor and train laboratory staff, promoting technical excellence and safety culture.
  • Monitor raw material developments, assess new polyol/isocyanate technologies, and support supplier qualification.
  • Provide advanced technical support to key customers when required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science; solid foundation in organic and polymer chemistry is essential.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in polyurethane formulation, R&D, or Quality Control (adhesives, coatings, resins).
  • Deep understanding of polymerization and crosslinking mechanisms, reaction kinetics, and structure - performance relationships.
  • Practical experience with FTIR, DSC, GPC, rheology, and adhesion testing.
  • Strong analytical mindset, structured problem-solving skills, and attention to experimental detail.
  • Excellent command of English and proficiency in MS Office, ERP, or LIMS systems.

Good to have

  • Postgraduate degree (MSc/PhD) in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, or Polyurethane Technology.
