Basic Information

On behalf of our client, a fast-growing organization in the retail sector is seeking a Head of Accounting to lead its finance operations. With significant growth planned over the next few years and an ongoing ERP upgrade, the Head of Accounting will play a critical role in redesigning accounting processes, ensuring system integration, elevating internal controls, and supporting the finance team in scaling effectively as the business continues to expand.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely deliverables.
Collaborate closely with the Finance Manager and maintain strong interaction with senior leadership.
Supervise inventory accounting, costing processes, and supplier reconciliations.
Ensure full compliance with Greek GAAP, VAT (including special regimes), and all tax obligations.
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures and contribute to statutory financial statements.
Coordinate with external accountants and payroll providers; gradually assume responsibility for credit control.
Redesign and document accounting processes to build a scalable and efficient structure.
Lead key components of the ERP (SoftOne) integration, including warehouse configuration and process automation.
Introduce internal controls, process efficiencies, and reporting enhancements.
Support the annual external audit and ensure effective collaboration with external stakeholders.

Team Leadership

Solid experience in corporate accounting, ideally in retail, commercial, or inventory-heavy environments.
Strong academic background in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Excellent knowledge of Greek GAAP, tax legislation, VAT rules, and special VAT schemes.
Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, costing, and supplier reconciliations.
Proven ability to lead, supervise, or restructure accounting teams.
Strong ERP proficiency, experience with SoftOne is a significant advantage.
Comfortable working in fast-paced, fast-growing environments with evolving processes.
Structured, autonomous, and capable of implementing processes and internal controls.
Experience collaborating with external auditors and participating in annual closing cycles.
Good understanding of IFRS principles and ability to apply them in daily accounting operations.
