Basic Information

The Junior Data Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and infrastructure using Microsoft Azure technologies, with a strong focus on Azure Databricks. Working under the guidance of senior team members, this role helps build scalable, secure, and well‑structured data solutions for the financial services industry. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Development

Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines using:

  • Azure Databricks (ETL/ELT, Delta Lake)
  • Azure Data Factory for orchestration and scheduling
• Data Integration

Contribute to integrating data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency. Support tasks related to data ingestion, transformation, and validation.

• Data Warehousing Support

Help develop and maintain data warehouse structures in Azure Synapse Analytics, supporting reporting and analytics teams.

• Collaboration & Support

Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to understand requirements and implement data solutions under supervision.

• Performance & Cost Optimization (Foundational)

Learn to optimize pipelines and storage systems for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• Security & Compliance Awareness

Follow established security practices for handling sensitive financial data and support compliance efforts.

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting

Assist in monitoring data jobs, identifying issues, and troubleshooting under the guidance of senior engineers.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 0–2 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or software development.
  • Internship or project exposure to Azure or big data tools is a plus.
Technical Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of Azure Databricks (Python/Scala/SQL notebooks, Delta Lake)
  • Experience or coursework involving Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT concepts, and cloud-based data solutions
Industry Knowledge (Nice to Have)

Basic awareness of financial services data requirements and regulatory considerations.

Soft Skills

  • Curious, eager to learn, and able to collaborate effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset
  • Clear communication and willingness to work in a team environment
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
