Basic Information

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting and maintaining IT systems across office locations and vessels. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting end users, managing IT assets, assisting with vessel IT operations, and ensuring the availability and security of company systems.

The ideal candidate is customer-focused, hands-on, and comfortable working in a dynamic maritime environment where both office and vessel support are required.

Responsibilities

End-User Support

  • Provide first and second-line technical support to office and vessel personnel.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Respond to support tickets and service requests in accordance with SLAs.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting and user assistance.

Hardware Support

  • Install, configure, and maintain:
    • Desktop and laptop computers
    • Printers and scanners
    • Mobile devices
    • Network equipment
    • Video conferencing systems
  • Manage hardware inventory and asset tracking.
  • Coordinate repairs and replacements with vendors.

Software Support

  • Install, configure, and support:
    • Microsoft Windows operating systems
    • Microsoft 365 applications
    • Antivirus and endpoint security solutions
    • Maritime and shipping-related applications
    • Business and ERP systems
  • Assist with software upgrades, patching, and deployments.

Vessel IT Support

  • Provide remote support for onboard vessel IT infrastructure.
  • Assist with satellite communications and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Support vessel networks, workstations, printers, and onboard applications.
  • Coordinate with vessel crews and external service providers.
  • Participate in vessel visits when required for maintenance, installations, and upgrades.

Network & Infrastructure Support

  • Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity.
  • Assist with Active Directory, user account administration, and access management.
  • Support backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Maintain system documentation and operational procedures.

Cybersecurity

  • Follow company cybersecurity policies and best practices.
  • Assist with endpoint protection, security monitoring, and incident response activities.
  • Support user awareness and security compliance initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in IT support, help desk, or systems support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Windows 10/11
    • Microsoft 365
    • Active Directory
    • TCP/IP networking
    • VPN technologies
    • Hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the shipping, maritime, or logistics industry.
  • Familiarity with vessel communications systems and satellite connectivity.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • VMware or Hyper-V
    • Microsoft Intune
    • Cybersecurity best practices
    • Backup and monitoring solutions
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • CompTIA A+
    • CompTIA Network+
    • Microsoft Certifications
    • ITIL Foundation
    • CCNA/CCNP
